About Collioure

Collioure is a place of extraordinary colour and light, so captivating that it became the birthplace of Fauvism and inspired great artists such as Matisse and Derain. Even today, the town feels like a living canvas, where the Mediterranean blues meet terracotta rooftops and pastel façades.

Once a traditional fishing village, Collioure is rich in Catalan culture and charm. Its winding cobbled streets invite you to wander and explore, revealing lively squares, excellent restaurants and bars, artisan shops, wine cellars and independent galleries at every turn. Life here is unhurried, social and deeply rooted in tradition.

Twice a week, the town hosts a vibrant food and craft market, and throughout the year you may stumble upon a musical fiesta, local celebration or open-air performance, often entirely by chance.

History lovers will enjoy exploring the imposing 13th-century Royal Castle that dominates the harbour, while walkers and hikers can head up to Fort St Elme, the old windmill, or follow the coastal paths offering breathtaking views of the Vermeille coast. Whether you prefer culture, nature or simply soaking up the atmosphere, Collioure offers something for everyone.
